KOREROS RESUMED AFTER 7-YEAR RECESS
Resuming its activities after a recess of seven years, the Gisborne Savage Club last night scored a success on its first night in the Scout Hall, Carnarvon street, the korero being attended by about 250 Savages. There was a noticeable feeling of good-fellowship and with the resumption of the activities members realised more fully what they had been missing during the years of the enforced recess.
A welcome was extended by the rangatira, Mr. W. M. Jenkins, who was the chairman for the evening.
Expressions of goodwill were received from almost all the Savage and Orphan clubs in the Dominion.
Only Lady Savage In N.Z.
Of particular interest was a message from the only lady Savage in the Dominion, Mrs.' Ada E Beer, Gisborne, who had done excellent service in welfare work in conjunction with the club and had been responsible for the successs of a "Mother Hubbard Cupboard” it organised. A former rangitira, Mr. A. Zachariah, Melbourne, also sent the club his good wishes. Entertainment was on its usual high plane and the faces of the members of the orchestra, under the baton of Mr. Wilfred Kohn. were mostly inmiliar to Savages as members or long-standing who had contributed to the success of the orchestra in the past.
Other entertainment was provided by Mr. H. C. Gregory, song; humour and sketches, Mr. Will B. Keany; club chous, “Pinafore" selection; humour, Mr. N. Russell; "Magic", Mr. H. Dover, Accordian duet, Messrs. H. A. R. Patterson and T. Bonica.
