Colour Bar in Africa
“This horrible evil in South Africa has got to stop. We must do it peacefully if possible, but wc cannot allow it to go on,” said the Rev. Arthur C. Hobson, M.A., speaking at a luncheon held by the New Zealand Club in Wellington recently. Mr. Ilobson, who is a great-nephew of New Zealand’s first governor, Lieul-Governor Hobson, was referring to the racial discrimination that existed in Africa. "This despising of three-quarters of the population by the other quarter, is an awful feeling,” he said. “I congratulate you New Zealanders on the complete absence of any such feeling here.”
