INDIA WANTS FOOD FROM NEW ZEALAND
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 21.
To negotiate with the New Zealand Government for the purchase of certain foods by the Government of India, Sir Datar Singh, an additional Secretary of the Ministry of Food of the Indian Government, arrived by air. He. has just concluded similar negotiations with the Australian Government for the purchase of wheat and tinned and powdered milk in as large quantities as could be supplied. Sir Datar said he would also inquire if there was any possibility of importing supplies of apples and other fresh fruit from New Zealand. That would depend on the refrigerated cargo space available. There was a likelihood of India entering into permanent contracts with New Zealand for supplies of these goods, said Sir Datar.
