King’s.—“ Bush Christmas,” which commcnces tomorrow, is a film sponsored by J. Arthur Rank and .is wholly Australian in atmosphere. In brief it is the story of a group of outback children, used to riding: and roujrhiiiE it, who manage to get on to the track of some horse thieves. Urged on by the excitement of the chase, and guided by an Australian black boy, they eventually have them brought to book. Regent.—“ Pursued” concludes at the Regent today. An unusual and intriguing star team is offered in Ray Milland and Marlene Dietrich, whose “Golden Earrings,” a new Paramount adventure-romance commences tomorrow at the Regent Theatre. Milland will be seen as a British officer and gentleman whose escape from the Nazis is accomplished with the assistance of a Gypsy woman, portrayed by Miss Dietrich. The film is primarily the love story of the Gypsy and the Englishman and as such is one of the most daring seen in a long time. The cast includes Murvyn Vye, Bruce Lester, Reitihold Schunzel, Dennis Hoey and Quentin Reynolds. Majestic.—“ Design for Scandal,” designed for laughter, heads today’s programme. At the bang of the judge’s gavel the laughs begin. Charming Rosalind Russell’s the judge and dashing Walter Pidgeon is the man who tries to make her trade the law for love. She was hard-boiled on a judge’s bench, but not so on a park bench. It is the fastest, funniest love affair on record. The featurettes are bright and interesting, and include scenes of the Gisborne flood salvage. Opera House.—ln aid of the Hine Materoa Children’s Home, “Xmas Frolics Revue” will he presented at the Opera House on Thursday, June 24, at 8 o’clock. Over 100 performers will include guest artists from Napier, the Floritas, in acrobatic and contortionist acts. Another popular item will be Stuart Skeet's dance band with Billie McCafferty and Tom Naden in an exhibition dance. Pharos, the modern master magician, will add to the variety. Bright and colourful ballets ranged by Maureen Keany will be blended with a number of comedy turns and vocal items by Mr. H. C. Gregory, Miss . Leone Birnier, Mrs. Coleman and Miss Darkle Sexton.
