Defective Chimney and Fire Called to an incipient fire at the home of Mr. J. C. N. Thomas,, Owen road, at 9.45 a.m. today, the Gisborne Fire Brigade was able to get quickly to the seat of the trouble and the fire was quelled with a bucket pump. It was caused through a defect at the base oi a chimney and the only damage was to a partition. No Change in Condition Miss Hinerau Ruru, Te Karaka, who was admitted to the Cook Hospital on Friday night suffering from injuries sustained when she was knocked down by' a truck near Te Karaka on Friday evening this morning was reported to be in tile same condition as when, she was admitted. The truck, which it is alleged, did not stop after colliding with Miss Ruru, has been located. Wairoa Show on November 5 and 6 At a special meeting of the Wairoa A. and P. Society, after a lengthy discussion, it was decided to carry on with the original dates set down for the Spring Show, November 5 and 6. Concern was expressed that due to damage caused by the flood to the sheep and cattle pens the grounds would not be ready by November, but it was finally decided to go ahead with the fixture.
