WELLINGTON MARKET

VEGETABLES IN DEMAND

Townsend and Paul, Limited, fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that during the past week there has been a v particularly keen demand for all choice lines of vegetables, the demand as usual being far in excess •■of supplies. Accordingly, the ceiling price has been ruling for all controlled lines such as cabbage, carrots, kumaras, •swedes, parsnips and silverbeet, whilst spinach, cauliflower and green peas are realising excellent figures.* Increased supplies of tree tomatoes came to hand on Monday and values eased slightly, whilst the demand for passionfruit, Chinese gooseberries and tomatoes is still particularly keen. All ■citrus are realising ceiling prices.
