AMERICA TO ADMIT EUROPE’S REFUGEES
WASHINGTON, June 3,
The Senate last night passed by 63 votes to 13, on non-party lines a Bill to admit up to 200,000 European refugees in two years, beginning on July 1. The Bill provides that at least half the persons admitted must have followed, and must follow, agricultural occupations, also that half those admitted must be trom countries annexed by a foreign Power: Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and East Poland.
The Bill goes to the House of Representatives, the judiciary committee of which has already approved a similar measure.
