(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, June 4. “It is hoped that there are not many licensees remiss on this matter, but we ask that you give the required service in the question of meats.” said the chairman, Mr. R. C. Abernethy, S.M., at the annual meeting of the Wallace Licensing Committee when a report was received that a Southland licensee had refused meals. The police report stated that there was no proof against the licensee

Mr. Abernethy remarked that there had been a number of complaints throughout New Zealand about hotel licensees not. supplying meals a.m there was a good deal of public agitation.

“You have a license and you should see the public gets a fair run.” Mr. Abernethy said to the publicans present at the meeting.

In a case where a person was Lot supplied with a meal, he should take the proper course ol laying any information through the police after which the matter could be threshed out in court, said Mr. Abernethy. He gave a warning that if the court entered a conviction the licensing committees would take a serious view of the matter.
