STRIKE OVER BEARD LASTS FOR 21 DAYS

The strike over a man's beard which deprived a village of beer, has ended after 21 days. Forty woriiers at a Bedfordshire brewery stopped work on March 3 because one of the employees was transferred to a job at a lower wage because he was growing a beard and his appearance, in the opinion of the management, was so untidy that they did not want him on outside work. The man was growing the beard for a wager of two gallons of beer and 10sTt was announced yesterday that a satisfactory agreement between the workers’ trade union end the management had been reached.
