WORLD’S BIGGEST ’DR ON LONG ISLAND
(9 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 2. The world's largest airport, Idle 'Wild, Long Island, was opened yesterday. It cost 200,000,000 dollars and covers 5000 acres.
It was opened to enable control tower officials and others to familiarise themselves with operations. Commercial flights are not expected to begin until July 1.
In full operation Idle Wind will have seven runways ranging from 6000 to 9000 ft long and will be able to handle 10CK) flights daily.
