INFANTRYMEN TO HOLD NATIONAL REUNION HERE

A national reunion of infantrymen who served with the 25 (N.Z.) Battalion will be conducted in Gisborne on Saturday. Almost 100 visitors from outside districts will attend.

Accommodation has been a problem for the association’s sub-branch in Gisborne and, although most of the visitors have been placed, the assistance of any members with billets available will relieve a certain amount of the anxiety being felt by the executive. Members able to assist in that way should contact the secretary, Mr. J. G. Aston.

The national reunion has been held previously in Wellington each year and now is being conducted in sub-associa-tion districts once in two years to give country members an opportunity of meeting old comrades. Gisborne was voted the fixture this year and members in the district have been asked to give it full support. An invitation has been extended to representatives of 6 Brigade units in the district to attend.

A contact centre will be established at the R.S.A. tomorrow' evening and will remtin open on Saturday. On Saturday morning the annual meeting of the parent association will be held at Poho-o-Rawiri and the reunion will be in the evening at the same hall.

A tour of the district has been organised for Sunday afternoon.
