Vest-Pocket Ration
The severe rationing of food in England has not dulled the people’s sense of humour, according to Mr. F. E. Sutherland, president of the Auckland Rugby Union, who spoke of his recent visit to Britain at a Rotary Club luncheon. One of the stories going around London, he said, concerned a man who l-.ad done the Saturday morning shopping for the family. When the man got home he could not find the week's bacon ration. After he had unsuccessfully searched through the shopping basket again, his wife made a suggestion, ‘‘Don't you think you should'feel in your waistcoat pocket?” she asked.
