ELECTION OF OFFICERS BUILDING PREPARATIONS iHernUl Uoi re*i't>n«ieut ) Enthusiastic support was shown at a recent meeting of the Uawa Rowing Club at Tolaea Bay when the election of officials and members look place, and the re organisation of the club took effect. There was an attendance of 28 members The following officials were elected: President. Mr. E. Shelton; vice-president, Mr. R. McNeil, sen.; secretary. Mr. 1. W. James; committee, Messrs. ’ML Lockwood. T. Dobbs, E. Harries. R. E. A. Moore. R. Lincoln. 11. Kellv. D. Wilson. C. Wilson. P. Lincoln. R. Moore, and Wi Pere Amaru. Timber and totara piles required for the rowing shed have been donated by local supnorlers. and last week-end a working bee of active members journeyed to Mr. R. Bartram's property to cut timber there.
A generous offer of boats from the Gisborne and Poverty Bay rowing clubs has been accepted and members are anxious to erect the building as soon as possible to house them and commence repair operations on the skiffs. Tile Wairoa Rowing Club has also skills for sale which local club members will inspect at an early dale. One of these boats is in first-class condition and its purchase would enable the club to start rowing at the beginning of the season. Membership fees were fixed at £2 for active members. 80s if under 21 and £1 for honorary members.
