KING & QUEEN VOICE GRATITUDE FOR 25 YEARS’ HAPPINESS

LONDON, April 26. His Majesty, in a broadcast tonight to his people, said it had been a memorable day for the Royal Family.

“It is an unforgettable experience to realise how many thousands of people in the world wish to join in the thankfulness we feel for 25 years of supremely happy life. '‘Those years for all who have lived through them have been full, of difficulty, anxiety and often sorrow. On me. in my endeavour to fulfil the appointed task, they laid a heavy burden which, at times, would almost be too heavy but for the strength and comfort I have always found in my home. “I find no better way of showing gratitude than wishing you a full share of the happiness with which I have been blessed. If you are happily married, may you long enjoy life together. If marriage is still before you, may it fulfil all your brightest hopes.” The Queen, broadcasting after the King, said she was also grate-

ful for 25 years’ happiness with the King. ‘‘Our world is longing to find the secret of community and all married lives are in a _ sense communities of miniature,” said Her Majesty. “The sanctities of married life are in some ways the highest form of human fellowship. “Looking back over the past‘2s years, I realise more and more the wonderful sense of security and happiness which comes from a ' loved home. My heart goes out to those who are living _in uncongenial surroundings longing for homes of their own. lam sure that patience, tolerance and love will keep their faith undlmmed.” The Queen said that Their Majesties felt that the moving Service at St. Paul's was one of rededication besides thanksgiving, and they prayed that, by God s guidance, they might have many opportunities of service towards the lands and peoples they loved so well.
