FOOD COUPONS
SCHOOLS CONTRIBUTE DISTRICT COLLECTION Schools again contributed strongly to the food-for-Britain campaign in the Gisborne district last week, pupils handing in a total of 3232 meat coupons. In all. 131 butter coupons, representing 65Jib. of butter and 11,351 meat coupons, equivalent to £lB9 3s 8d in cash value, were cancelled in the district. Schools which contributed to the campaign were Te Hapara, 1266 meat coupons; Awapuni, 924 meat coupons; Kaiti. 426 meat coupons; Horera Native School, 330 meat coupons; Ormond, 2«5 meat coupons; Makaraka, 40 meat coupons. Seven butter and 504 meat ebupons were received in the silent street appeal on Friday, while 118 meat coupons were handed in at the aid-for-Britain office. Matawai, Motu, Ruatoria and Tokomaru Bay did the best of the sub-offices. The fat collected totalled 531 b. Coupon 'surrenders credited to the main post offices in the Gisborne district for the week ended April 24 were:—
