In the House of Commons, the Prime Minister. Mr. C. R. Attlee, said h* hoped Their Majesties would celebrate their golden wedding in a world from which war had been banished forever. Mr. Winston Churchill raid Majesties, in an unassuming, simp.e manner had shared the people's anxieties and sorrows. They were an inspiration to all people in their example of a happy British home. Mr. Clement Davis said the people s loyal affection for Their Majesties had never been equalled. The House enthusiastically carried the resolution. Lord Addison, in the House of Lords, expressed the hope that Their Majesties “adventure of next year" when they visit New Zealand and Australia, would be successful and as fruitful in good results as the visits to Canada and South Africa.

“Here again we shall find evidence if the strength of that bond of common allegiance to the Crown which is so remarkable in our free independent nation," he added.

On the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the wedding of the King and Queen the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, sent the following message: “I beg respecfully with humble duty to tender to Your Majesty and the Queen the warmest congratulations and best wishes of the Government and peoples of New Zealand, its island 'erritories and Western Samoa, On the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Your Majesties’ marriage. AH join in praying that Your Majesties may long be spared to reign in health, happiness. and peace." GREETINGS FROM POPE fl 1 a.m.) LONDON, April 26. Good wishes from the Pope and the Italian President, Senior de Nicola, were among the world-wide silver wedding greetings sent to the King and Queen. ~
