SHORTAGE OF NURSES
AUCKLAND HOSPITAL URGENT CASES ONLY (P A ) AUCKLAND, April 27. Increasing staff difficulties at Auckland Hospital were referred to by the matron, Miss L- Talbot, in a report which came before the Auckland Hospital Board last night. She stated that the staffing problem would be very acute this month because many members of the senior stnlf were leaving. Thirty-four trained nurses were going to take their maternity training, two sisters were leaving for overseas and nine staff nurses were going. The committee which had considered the report reiterated the board’s previous resolution that the medical superintendent’s limit admissions to urgent cases only, while the nursing position remained in its present critical state.
