DEATH IN WAIKATO

PARALYSIS EPIDEMIC AUCKLAND IMPROVEMENT (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 27. Another death from infantile paralysis has occurred in the Waikato Hospital. The victim was a woman aged 31 from Otorohanga. In Auckland the position has improved. No new cases have been reported and three suspects have been declared negative. Four positive cases and a suspect have been reported in the South Auckland health district. FOURTH HASTINGS CASE (P.A.) HASTINGS, April 27. The fourth positive case of poliomyelitis within the borough of Hastings was reported yesterday, the latest victim being a three-year-old girl. This is the first case in the borough for more than two weeks. The child earlier this year was on the health authorities’ list of notifiable cases as a diphtheria victim and had returned to her home only about three weeks ago. This case makes the fourteenth positive case of poliomyelitis in Hawke’s Bay health district since the outbreak of the epidemic. ANOTHER NAPIER CASE (P.A.) NAPIER, April 27. A six-year-old boy admitted to the Napier Hospital on Saturday as a suspect was diagnosed as a positive case of poliomyelitis 'late yesterday afternoon. This is the fifteenth positive case in the Napier-Hastings district.

ANOTHER TARANAKI CASE (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 27. A seven-year-old boy who was admitted to the Hawera Hospital from Normanby was diagnosed yesterday as a positive case of poliomyelitis. He is the fifty-first case in the Taranaki health district since November.
