SIGNALS TO AIRCRAFT
DISTRESS MESSAGES LONDON, April 23. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has adopted a code by which people in difficulties on the ground will be able to signal to aircraft for help. The code has 10 symbols all formed of straight lines. A single line, for example, means “require doctor, serious injuries.” The Ministry suggests that the symbols be formed of 18ft. long strips of fabric, stones or wood.
