Y.M.C.A. CONCERT
TALENTED ARTISTS AUDIENCE APPRECIATIVE A small but appreciative audience attended the first of what is hoped to be a series of concerts and other functions to assist in the raising of funds for the Gisborne Y.M.C.A. m the Y.M.C.A. hall. . „ , Assisted by the Salvation Army Band and a number of talented local artists, the organisers were to be congratulated on the varied composition of the entertainment. _ , Conducted by Bandmaster D. Waugh, the Gisborne Salvation Army Band rendered several numbers, concluding with the march, “The Great Little Army.” Miss Naomi Johnson, mezzosoprano, was also featured on the programme, being accompanied by Mr. Harold Andrews, who was later heard in several pianoforte solos. Mr. T. Lyle, violinist, was accompanied by Mr. J. Roderick, both of whom gave excellent interpretations of selected items. A trombone solo by Mr James Stanbridge. accompanied by Mrs. F. R. Bould. and humourous recitations by Mr. Frank Mulligan completed the first half of the programme. The same performers were heard in the second half, with the addition of several 'cello solos by Mr. H. O. McFarlane, accompanied on the piano by Mr. D. G. Dyer.
