PARALYSIS CASES
WAIROA AND PUTERE THIRD PATIENT SUSPECT (S.R.) WAIROA, April 26. The first case of suspected poliomyelitis was admitted to hospital on Thursday. The patient is a married woman, aged 24 years, from the Wairoa borough. The case, it is feared, may prove to be positive Two further suspects, a young married woman and a man. were admittted from the Putere district but have not yet been definitely diagnosed The senior health officer in Gisborne, interviewed by telephone last nigin, stated that immediate precautions had beer, taken with a view to presenting the spread of the complaint, and the home" where the cases came from, had been placed in isolation Schools in the Wairoa and Putere districts are to remain open The senior officer of health at Gisborne.- Mr. G. W. Adams, stated this morning that two of the cases, one from die Wairoa borough and one from Putere, had been proved positive. Tne other case from Putere was still suspect.
