HILLSIDE CRASH
BRITISH OCCUPANTS ESCAPE SEARCH FOR WRECKAGE (11 a.m.) LONDON, April 22. When a British European Airways Viking airliner flying from London to Glasgow became lost and made a crash landing late last night on .a hillside nears Largs, Ayrshire and burst into flames, only two or three passengers suffered superficial injuries. The 16 passengers and the crew of four scrambled to safety through openings in the tail. The first news of the crash was taken to the largs police station by the pilot, John Ramsden and one passenger who walked six miles across the moors and, by following a hillside stream, reached Largs. A search party was immediately organised but Captain Ramsden said he was not certain, owing to fog, where he made the crash landing, but he thought it was 1200 ft up the hillside. The search party, with his assistance, is now endeavouring to locate the wrecked plane. The passengers who had to spend the night on the hillside I are now safe at Largs.
