RECRUITING RALLY

YOUTH ORGANISATION GISBORNE BOYS BRIGADE The oldest youth organisation in the British Empire, the Boys’ Brigade, which has been established in the Gisborne district for some time, will make an appeal for members during the coming week among those boys who are connected with no other Gisborne organisation. Made up of three town companies and three country companies, the strength of the Gisborne Battalion of the Boys’ Brigade declined during the war years, but now that leaders are again available it has been decided to conduct a recruiting rally. With this end in view, officials of the brigade have arranged for a window display in the business area of various brigade material, while as a finale a march by the present members will be held through the town on Friday evening of next week. This will be 'ollowed by a rally at the Parish flail, where the Rev. j. Kingsley Fairbairn, M.8.E., will address the youths on his experiences with the Clydebank company of the Boys’ Brigade during the war. Boys from 12 to 18 years have been invited to join the brigade, a company being attached to three of the town churches. Religious work and outdoor activities, which this year include the formation of a soccer team, are fostered by the brigade.
