(P.A.) WELLINGTON. March 2M Two stoker mechanics on ILM.A.S. Australia. Ordinary Seaman Edwaid Charles Hawthorne and Ordinary Seanan John Wilson Elmore, both aged »■ 'Cars, were tried bv court martial n,i inard the ship today on charges of Insertion.
Both pleaded guilty and were sentenced to one year's hard labour, sub icet to confirmation by the Australian Naval Board.
| It was stated that they deserted at
; Port Chalmers on March 8 and were i arrested together by a police constable | several days later.
