MATA DOG TRIALS
TOBEY WINS LONG HEAD The annual three-day Mata dog trials were held on Bexhaven station, Tokomaru Bay, last week, there being large entries in the four events. The judges were: Head, Mr. G. Mead; hunt, Mr. G. Herbert. Results:— Long-head (possible 50). —R. James' Tobey, 44 points, 1: T. Burgess’ Sky, 43 points, 2; W. Ruiwhiu’s Victory and H. Sherriff’s Mate, 424 points, equal, 3; A. Ross’ Spy, 42 points, 5. Short-head and yard. (60). —T. Mitchell’s Tim, 51$ points, 1; G. Herbert’s Rangatira, 51 points, 2; T. Hickey’s Rod, 4 6J points, 3; R. James’ King, 45$ points 4. Zig-zag Hunt (45). —H. SherrifTs Glen, 42$ points, 1; G. Cotterill’s Nap, 42 points, 2; T. Beilski’s Bob, 41$ points, 3; A Dever’s Mate, 41 points, 4. Straight Hunt (45). —H.
