GARDEN FETE SUCCESS (Herald Correspondent.)

Alhough the weather was most un,propitious, it did not greatly affect the success of the fete organised hy St. ■Luke’s parish at Waerenga-a-hika on Saturday, when £IOB was raised. The function was transferred to the school, where well set out stalls were arranged "with large and varied stocks. Competitions and amusements. were ■well catered for, while a special act 'entitled "Mental Telepathy,” presented •by Miss Johansen and Mr. J. Thompson, jcompletely captured an appreciative 'audience.

i At the conclusion of the function ;the Rev. J. Talbot expressed pleasure at the success of the afternoon and thanked all who had assisted, including the men’s committee, who had provided several working bees. Stallholders were:—Needlework: Mes.dames C. and N. Long, Harding; Cakes: •Mesdames R. Graham, J. Broad, G. : Williams, C. McKenzie, L. Eade, W. ! Robson; Produce: Mesdames J. Heasjlip, V. T. C. Savage, P. Reynolds, W. Barton, R. Veitch, R. Watson; Jumble: Mesdames A. Mason, J. Kain, Miss J. Pilmer. Flowers: Mesdames J. Bray, C. Baigent. Afternoon tea: Mesdames A. Barrow, A. Paulson, D. J. Cumming C. Rougher, J. Brown, F. Moore, S. B. iDavies, J. Croxton, Miss M. Jackson. Ice Cream: Mrs. C. Benson, Misses F. Barboure and R. Pilmer. A number of floral decorative classes, ■ judged by popular vote, attracted good lentries of a high standard.
