EMPIRE TITLE BOUT
SANDS VERSUS MURPHY CHRISTCHURCH PROPOSAL (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 15. Dave Sands, Australian middleweight boxing champion, and his manager, Mr. T. Macguire, visited Christchurch yesterday and discussed with the Christchurch Boxing Association a proposal for an Empire middleweight title bout with Bos Murphy in Christchurch. It is understood that the purse the association is prepared to offer is larger than any yet fought for in New Zealand, even those not authorised by the New Zealand Boxing Council. The association believes that the Boxing Council would not object to a large purse for an Empire title bout. The New Zealand Council would also have to lift its suspension on Murphy.
