CARRIAGE OF PASSENGERS TEST CASE JUDGMENT (P.A.) HASTINGS, March 10. Holding that flights conducted by the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Aero Club on the occasion of its membership drive on people's day of the Royal Show at Tomoana were for the purpose of hire or reward, Mr. H. .Tenner Wily. S.M.. in a lengthy reserved judgment, delivered in the Magistrate s Court entered convictions against the club on charges of carrying passengers for hire from an unlicensed aerodrome and of engaging and unlicensed pilot to carry fare-paying passengers. . . , , ~ The magistrate also convicted the pilot Allan Everard Ingram, on _ a count of carrying passengers in an aircraft for hire without the prescribed certificate of competency and license. As the hearing was in the nature ol 8 test case, the magistrate entered only nominal penalties of £1 with costs on each charge. A further charge against the aero club of operating from an unlicensed aerodrome while carrying passengers was dismissed, it being held that this information was covered by one of the others.
