DYNAMITE IN SHOES
ATTEMPTED GAOL BREAK NEW YORK, Feb. 24. Nine prisoners failed in an attempted goal break at Fairburn, Georgia, after blowing their way o,ut of the cell block. They used dynamite dust smuggled from quarries in their shoes, where it passed as dirt during inspections. The powdered explosive was placed in door cracks, sealed with soap, and set oft with a dynamite cap and a short fuse, believed to have been smuggled in a prisoner's mouth.
