LOSS OF £1,083,314
NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 12. The progressive deterioration in the railway finances this financial year is again revealed in the latest accounts, which show an operating loss of £1,083,314 for the 10 months of the year.
An abstract of the railways working account pub!'shed in last night’s Gazette gives the revenue for the period from April 7. 1947, to January 31, 1948, as £13.858,171 and the expenditure £14,741,485.
