AUSTRALIAN AIRLINES CHARGES WITHHELD MELBOURNE, March 12. The Civil Aviation Department has informed Australian Naional Airways and Ar.sett Airwavs that thev must pay route charges totalling £96,0000 by today or face prosecution. Neither company has paid route charges since the Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr. A. S. Drakeford, announced the introduction, of these charges eight months ago Under the original schedule Australian National Airways was‘assessed at £14.000 a month and Ansett Airways at C2OOO. The companies are refusing to pay the charges until convinced they are legal.
