WEATHER SEQUENCE
RAIN FOR DISTRICT SHOULD CLEAR TODAY A frontal system connected with a low pressure area crossing northern New Zealand brought last night’s light but beneficial rain in the Gisborne district. The front is expected to pass over the district today and the weather should be clear again this afternoon. . Rainy weather in the Gisborne district is rather unusual from the above cause. The district’s rain comes, more often, from a cold front associated with a depression which usually crosses the south of the South Island from west to east. Occasionally rain in Gisborne is caused by a cyclone passing to the east of the Dominion. The fringes of the cyclone often affect the weather on the east coast of the North Island, particularly bringing rain. Howe%'er, most of the weather which affects New Zealand sweeps across the Tasman Sea from Australia, and a fairly good guide to Gisborne’s weather this week can be taken from Tasmania’s last week’s cold, wet or fine period.
