‘INTEREST LACKING’

* G.H.S.O.S. AFFAIRS MEMORIAL BATH FUND Comment on the evident lack of interest being taken in the Gisborne High School Old Students’ Association was made by the chairman, Mr. F. H. Bull, at the annual meeting on Thursday night. It was obvious that the association's activities were not being supported by the majority of members, as shown by the large number of unfinancial members, and by the poor attendance at the meeting, he said.

Mr. Bull moved the adoption of the report, which was carried, and the balance sheet was also received.

A motion of sympathy with the iate Mr. A. Harre, a vice-president of the association at the time of his death, was carried.

The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr. J. Leggat, re-elected; president, Mr F, W. Norman, re-elected; vice-presidents, Mrs. D. W. McKeague re-elected, and Messrs. J. W. Bain and ,J. R. Murray, following on the retire ment after a three-year term of Mr. F. H. Bull; to four vacancies on the committee, Misses D. A. Williams and J. Hart and Messrs. H. P. Hamilton and G. H. Dunn; auditor, Mr. J. Ilaisman, re-elected.

The chairman reported on his efforts to raise subscriptions to complete the Edmondson memorial fund and advised having received £5 up to date. It was decided that Mr. Bull confer immediately with Mr. Leggat on the form the memorial should take, stressing the football aspect as a’ recommendation from the meeting. Mr. Bull would report the decision reached to the association's committee to complete the arrangements to raise any sum necessary.

Regarding the memorial bath fund to commemorate ex-students who gave nn a ! ives *P ac tion, and for which £3OOO is required to complete the plans, various suggestions were put forward designed to boost interest amongst members and so assist the various year group secretaries. Mr. Murray, one of the trustees of the fund, undertook to incorporate these suggestions in the working of the year groups’ committee.
