SENIOR_A ISSUE R. 0.8. OR UNITED PROGRESS OF P.B. CRICKET Senior A elevens of the P.B. Cricket Association tomorrow commence tiie concluding two-day matches of the season’s competi- . lion with two teams equal for the leading position, Rugby Old Boys, last season’s champions, and United each having 41 championship points. These show a margin of 12 over H. 5.0.8., who lead Marist by 10 points.
As, however, the joint leaders do not meet, each match of the concluding series will sustain interest in the competition and the teams out of the running will play an important part in deciding the issue. United face 11.5.0.8. tomorrow and Rugby Old Eoys meet Marist. In the games completed last week United lost on the first innings to the improving Marist combination, while Rugby Old Boys gained an outright win over H. 5.0.8. Form points to keen struggles in both matches opening tomorrow with the odds favouring United and Rugby Old Boys respectively, but with both H. 5.0.8. and Marist capable of creating surprises the issue is very open. Leading Senior B Sides
Senior B teams meet in the third series of one-day games of the fourth round. The two leading teams, Rugby Old Boys and High School, meet on the High School grounds. Last week they lost respectively on the first innings to H. 5.0.8. (White) and H. 5.0.8. (Blue). The 22-point margin in favour of Rugby Old Boys, however, still leave them in a very strong position on the championship table. United (A), the only other team with any prospect of reaching the top, tomorrow play H. 5.0.8. (Blue). United (A) accounted for the club B side in a high-scoring game last week. High School (II), who have 'the slender lead of one point over R. 0.8. in the Second Grade competition, play Gold Top tomorrow. Last week Marist gained an outright win over Gold Top and Rugby Old Boys a similar decision over High School (II). With the competition in this division nearing conclusion, the issue lies between High School (II) and Rugby Old Boys. The latter and Marist have played one game less than High School (II). When Gold Top entered the competition High School (II) had played four games and the other two teams had played three each. TOMORROW’S FIXTURES Senior A, First Day.—United v. H. 5.0.8..
