Further Surf Events With the season drawing to a close and few week-ends available, the executives of the Gisborne Amateur Surf and Swimming Club and the Wainui Surf Life-Saving Club decided last evening to conduct their next beach carnival on Sunday afternoon at Wainui Beach. Scots—and ithers—wha hae! / The response to the proposal that exDunedin people now in this district should forward a testimonial of their affection on the occasion of the city s centennial celebrations has been highly satisfactory to the original promoters. ( Large numbers of people descended from the original pioneers of Otago, and others who cannot claim such descent but who nevertheless qualify as Dunedin people of another day, have subscribed their names to a testimonial which is now being suitably engrossed for conveyance to the people of Dunedin. The list of 117 subscribers gathered to date includes a few names which suggest a slightly cosmopolitan tincture in the tartan.
