CONDUCTED TOUR

AUCKLAND PARTY BEAUTY SPOTS VISITED The sights of Gisborne were thoroughly explored yesterday by a group of Auckland women who are on a conducted tour of the province. The tour was arranged by the Auckland office of the Internal Affairs Departr ment. Made up of 20 married and single women, the tourists were actually a recreation group which meets each week in Auckland for light exercises and social activities. A tour through the Bay of Plenty and Rotorua districts preceded the Gisborne visit. The party left Gisborne this morning for Morere, and will spend the week-end at Napier, returning to Auckland early next week by way of Waikaremoana and Rotorua.

During the day in Gisborne the party, which stayed at Almadale, was put under the conductorship of a local officer of the Department of Internal Affairs. Yesterday morning he took the party through Wise’s ice cream factory, and later they were shown the B.M.Smusic room, where a coloured film was screened for them by Mr. H. F. Wise. In the afternoon the visitors were shown spots of interest in the town area, the Waikanae Beach, Wainui Beach and as far as Tatapouri Before leaving this morning the visitors expressed their appreciation of the hospitality offered them in Gisborne and also stated that they were delighted with the scenery in the district.
