Mrs. FI. S. Mallett, Auckland, arrives at Gisborne by plane today to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Craig, Wainui Beach. Burma Bean Cultivated Bought under the description of “Red Burma”, a bean of unusual characteristics has been grown in Gisborne with success by Mr. H. Boniface, Darwin road. The plant produces a short pod containing an average of three beans, the pods growing in profusion on vines which reach Bft. or 10ft. in height. The pod is hard-fibred like a green-pea pod, and is not easily edible, but the beanseed itself is regarded as a big improvement on the lima bean used in commercial preparations.
