RUSSIAN SENTRY SHOOTS U.S. SOLDIER
VIENNA, March 8. An American soldier, walking with another soldier and three Austrian girls, was shot from behind after refusing to obey a Russian order to get off the pavement in front of the Russian head quarters, an hotel in the international district, says the United States Army announcement.
It added that a Russian sentry struck an unnamed American soldier with his gun, knocking him to his knees. The sentry fired a shot at the American soldier while he was still on the ground. The bullet smashed his elbow and he is likely to lose his left arm. The Russian took one of the soldier’s girl companions screaming into the hotel where she was detained.
