DETAINED AT VATICAN
, HOLY SEE OFFICIAL PROBE INTO PAYMENTS ROME, March 8. Vatican circles announced that Monsignor Giulio Guidetti was detained in his Vatican apartments. Giudetti resigned months ago after 12 months as secretary for the administration of the goods of the Holy See. The Pope ordered a rigorous investigation into the affair concerning Monsignor Prettner Cippico, who escaped from the Vatican after being unfrocked for “falsification and swindles.”
Vatican circles state that sums, possibly reaching millions of lire, have been paid out on false orders of payment.
