RUGBY CHAMPIONS
OLD BOYS CLUB ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of the Old Boys’ Football Club, which fielded the champion senior combination in the P.B. series last season, drew an enthusiastic attendance of approximately CO members.
The president, Mr. G. J. Jeune, occupied the chair and associated with him was the patron, Mr. F. Tolerton. Both referred to the advisability of incorporation for an organisation possessing considerable assets and the meeting approved of a recommendation that steps be taken to enrol the club as a corporate society.
In presenting the annual report, Mr. Jeune stated that last season had been a most successful one. The senior team had won the Lee Shield, Premier C-up and Lydford Shield, while the juniors and thirds had annexed the White Cup and an Efficiency Cup. The club was well represented in P.B.R.U. rep, teams in all grades.
The balance sheet showed a sound financial postiion and the president complimented the committee and members on the completion of the clubhouse which was now an extremely valuable asset. Menzies, F. E. Humphreys, P. Lockett, T. Kelly, D. Greaves, R. Graham, S. T. Moss, E. Fitzmaurice and K. A. Woodward; club captain, Mr. P. A. Fargher; hon. secretary, Mr. G. Elliott; hon. treasurer. Mr. G. Harris; delegates to P.8.R.U., Messrs. E. Felton and F. Soloman; coaches. Mr. F. Soloman (senior), Mr. E. Felton (junior A), Mr. H. Littler (junior B), Mr. D. Felton (thirds); committee. Messrs. Jim Barbour, N. Summersby, T. Corlet, M. Glassford, D. Felton, G. Duncan.
The club captain reported that arrangements were being made for the visit of Napier Tec. Old Boys at Easter to play for the Lydford Shield and that the senior team had already commenced training.
The meeting learned with regret of the retirement from the office of hon. treasurer of Mr. G. Montgomery. Several speakers paid tribute to his untiring activities on the club behalf over a number of years. New members elected were: A. F. Gardiner, D. Wylie, D. MacCauley, W. McCarroll, R. Cook, G. Burch, R. Middlemiss, A. McGregor, B. , White, Barry Sweet, G. Gibson, K. Blane.
