EARLY POLL URGED

WHOLE OF KOREA U.S.-CHiNESE APPEAL U.N. "LITTLE ASSEMBLY" (N.Z.P.A. —Copyright.) NEW YORK, Feb. 24. Tiie United States and China urged in the United Nations Interim Committee of 'Little Assembly” today the immediate lidding of nation-wide elections in Korea. Dr. Philip Jessup, United States, said the Korean commission which, in view of the Russian boycott of its activities in Korea, had asked the committee for instructions, should proceed with the poll quick'y. ' He pointed out that twothirds of the Korean people live in the southern nart of the country and they could elect their proportionate share of a Korean National Assembly. The remaining one-third people would be unrepresented but they and all the world would know who had denied them the opportunity.

Mr T.- F. Tsiang, China, said: “If we allow the 38fh Parallel to prevent us from taking action we are accepting and approving of the division of Korea into north and south,” Bolivia and Ecuador endorsed the American and Chinese proposal in principle. No Russian bloc representatives attended the “Little Assembly” because their countries are boycotting it.
