SERVICE AS ENGINEER
PRAISE OF MR. T. G. G. BECK MR. SEMPLE’S TRIBUTE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 7. “This came to me as a great shock,” said the Minister of Works, Mr. Semple, yesterday in referring to the death of Mr. T. G. G. Beck, deputy Commissioner of Works. “I have no hesitation in saying that his passing will be a tremendous loss to the Works Department, and his place will be difficult to fill. He was not only a competent engineer, but he possessed an inventive /mind. You could not put him wrong. “He was a genius, and there are examples of his engineering genius all over the country. He needs no monument. He has erected them with his skill all over New Zealand.”
