FIRST CASE REPORTED
NORTH AUCKLAND AREA (P.A.) DARGAVILLE, Dec. 15. The first case of infantile paralysis reported in North Auckland has occurred in the Northern Wairoa district. The victim is a 19-year-old girl who was admitted to the Northern Wairoa Hospital at Te Kopuru on Saturday and has been classified as a positive but mild case.
The victim is reported to have arrived in this district from an infected area. No further suspects have yet been reported in North Auckland.
“The evidence is definite that infection was contracted outside of North Auckland,” said Dr. J. I. Newman, medical officer of health at Whangarei. He said he did not propose to impose any restrictions other than those already in force on the instructions of the director-general of he~lth. He did not advice anyone to leave the district on account of the presence of the case.
