TIMBER OUTPUT FALLS
There has been a serious reduction in timber output at some West Coast sawmills during the past week because of the prolonged dry spell. Fire-fighting resulted in the ‘cessation of work at two mills for part of the week while production has been curtailed at others because of the lack of water. The main problem at some bush mills is to keep the steam winches in operation.
