APPEAL BY INDIAN
DEPORTATION ORDER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 16. The Court of Appeal reserved decision in an appeal by a Fijian-born Indian, Hari Sahodar Singh, against a judgment of Mr. Justice Callan on November 28 sentencing him to three months’ prison for overstaying his permit to remain in New Zealand and ordering his deportation. The main point of the argument was whether the Supreme Court had power under Section 11 of the Immigration Restrictions Act, 1920, to order Singh’s deportation.
