PIGS CHLOROFORMED
BLACK MARKET TACTICS BERLIN, Dec. 1. German black marketeers smuggling livestock from one occupation zone into another, now use chloroform to keep the animals quiet. During a recent raid at Hamburg, a basket seized from a French Zone couple revealed six “peacefully slumbering” piggies which had been treated with chloroform. At a hearing, the pair declared that this was the best method of transporting pigs without attracting attention.
