£l5O FINE FOR BOOKMAKING
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept.. 29. George Lacey, aged 45, roof tiler, pleaded guilty before the magistrate, Mr. A. M. Goulding, on a charge of bookmaking and was fined £l5O. The police stated that the accused had been fined £SO in 1946 on a similar charge. The magistrate said that if he came before the court again on a similar charge he could not expect to escape with a fine.
