CHOLERA SPREADS
EGYPTIAN CASES SUPPLIES OF SERUM BLACKMARKET GREED (10 a.m.) CAIRO, Sept. 29It is officially announced that 303 cases of cholera, of which 53 were fatal, have been reported so far throughout Egypt. The health authorities have offered a reward of £IOOO to people denouncing black marketeers, who are reported to be selling anti-cholera serum for £5 per unit. The authorities said the serum, which was produced in private laboratories, seriously threatened public health.
A Skymaster landed at Cairo from New York carrying 12001 b of serum and 8001 b of other medical supplies. The Egyptian authorities reported 11 deaths from cholera yesterday.
The fight against the epidemic last week cost £1,000,000.
