R.S.A. ANNUAL BALL (Herald Correspondent.) The annual ball of the Waikohu Returned Services’ Association, held in the Waikohu Hall, was a very enjoyable gathering, despite the fact that counter-attractions in other districts militated against the attendance. Committee members, headed by the president, Mr. D. G. Dymock, were responsible for the attractive decorations and careful organisation to ensure the pleasure of their guests. Opportunity was taken to mark the services of Mr. S. S. Smithers, who this year retired from the position of president after holding office for many years. Mr. D. G. Dymock spoke of the valuable work done by their former president and called on Mr. J. W* Nisbett, a member of long standing, to present Mr. Smithers with an illuminated address as a token of their appreciation. In reply, Mr. Smithers acknowledged the support unfailingly accorded him. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr, Cecil Brown, music for dancing being provided by Mr. J. Vagg’s orchestra. Much appreciated extras were contributed by Miss M. Hobbs. Supper was served by a ladies* committee at prettily decorated tables on the stage.
