“HELP NOT URGENT”
TRUE FACTS ON EUROPE WASHINGTON, Sept. 18. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Joseph Martin, said at a press conference today that the Truman Administration had failed to inform Congress of the true facts of the European economic situation. Mr. Martin added that his private reports from “very good sources” indicated that there was no immediate danger in Europe from starvation.
Mr. Martin said he believed that Congress could act on the general foreign economic situation in January just as effective as now.
